Position Overview
 
The Project Engineer will work at Cargill's Corn Milling Facility in Eddyville, Iowa and will provide engineering support for the food, feed and fermentation businesses at the location.  This position will be responsible for process design work, project scope development, equipment and instrumentation selection, installation, contractor management, commissioning and startup as well as development and adherence to project budget and schedule for multiple capital projects on a plant-wide basis.
 
Principal Accountabilities
 
25%  Develop various alternatives to achieve project objectives. Develop project financials including budget, operating costs, and benefits for each viable alternative and select best option. Request appropriate funding and approvals.
20%   Process engineering including P&ID development, system throughput calculations and equipment selection, mass/material balance, and energy/utility calculations.
20%   Detailed design engineering and bid package development, may be through the use of a consulting engineering firm.
15%   Construction management, insuring adherence with safety requirements, schedule, and budget.
10%   Commissioning and start-up support to operations.
10%   Assist operations with production management and process optimization.\n\nRequired
- Bachelor's of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Biosystems Engineering or other engineering discipline that has a strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mass/material balance and process design.
- 2+ years in project engineering, maintenance and/or operations supervision.
- Awareness of Project Related Processes such as PDP (Project Delivery Process) and PMG (Project Management Guidelines)
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Training
- Knowledge of Construction Project Management Practices.
- High levels of organization, communication and documentation skills.
- Strong Leadership Skills. 
- Ability to effectively communicate to and work with multifunctional teams and personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Motivation and ability to execute projects/tasks in a timely manner
- Strong prioritization and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of contracting strategies (stipulated sum, EPSA, T&M, etc
- Some experience with electronic accounting and procurement systems necessary to order equipment, track project spending and request work.
- Experience with commitment system for funds requests.
- Willingness to learn
- Up to 15% travel
Preferred
- Strong Project Controls Skills (Budget Management, Schedule Development and Execution, Scope Development and execution).
- Strong estimating skills
- Experience using the Project Delivery Process (PDP) process or PDP Facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to execute projects ($1 million or more) successfully.
- Knowledge of key process unit operations such as evaporation, heat exchange, ion exchange, and drying.
- Cargill's Construction Project Management course, RCA training, Cargill's RCM course, OSHA 30 hour construction safety training.
- Food safety training (GMP, HAACP)
