Chemical Technician V

Job Description

Kelly Scientific Resources has a 6 month temporary opening for a Chemical Technician in Corvallis, OR. The primary focus of this position is to perform analytical testing on printheads and ink cartidges on a 3D X-ray system.. A secondary focus of this position may be towards performing analyses on additional analytical tools, dependant on breadth of skills of the individual chosen for this position and overall workload in the analytical laboratories. This is a 4/10 work shift; Friday- Monday; 7am-5:30pm

Responsibilities:
' Perform analysis of materials and components utilizing standard chemical/laboratory instrumentation for R&D, Product Development and Manufacturing activities.
' Work with partners to solve analytical requests and communicate results accordingly
' Applies extensive knowledge of the job skills, company policies and procedures to complete complex, specialized assignments/tasks in creative and effective ways.
' Comprehensive understanding of the general/technical aspects of the job.
' Works on assignments that are complex in nature and require considerable judgment, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge to resolve problems and/or develop recommended solutions.
' Work is completed with minimal supervision and assignments may be completed without established procedures.
' May determine methods and procedures for new assignments.

Requirements:
' BS Degree in Natural Sciences with 4-6 years experience operating Analytical equipment (May include highly experienced individuals performing senior equivalent work who are non-degreed or degreed in a related field)
' Knowledge of FAB thin-film technology and processes is a requirement for this position.
' Prior experience with X-Ray systems, electron microscopes, scanning acoustic microscopes, and advanced image processing systems is highly desireable.
' Computer skills with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word processing applications for the generation of written technical reports are required.
' Thorough theoretical knowledge/experience of chemical concepts and principles acquired through education, prior work experience or on-the-job training.
' Hands-on experience with optical microscopes and imaging systems is required
' Thorough technical knowledge/experience in operating multiple types of analytical instruments.
' Recognized as an expert on at least one type of analytical instrument and analytical protocol.
' Assists in recommending, evaluating, and setting up new analytical instrumentation.
' Experience in enhancing and developing analytical methods and interpretation of data.
' Technical knowledge and experience of good laboratory practices and safety rules.
' The individual selected for this position much be able to work independently, with minimal direction from engineers.
' Assists in mentoring and training laboratory personnel
